Cabinet Gorge Dam and Fish Hatchery
On Highway 200 East. Located on the Clark Fork River within easy driving distance. Tours (30 minutes): 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., daily (seasonal). Groups by appointment.
Schweitzer Mountain Resort
11 miles northwest of Sandpoint. A multi-season resort with lodging, dining, sports and entertainment. In summer enjoy scenic chairlift rides, hiking, mountain biking (including bike rentals) and in winter, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, sleighrides, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and special events. 263-9555
Lake Pend Oreille
Idaho’s largest lake is 43 miles long and has dozens of small lakes and many streams and rivers replenishing it daily. The lake’s name is derived from an Indian Tribe called Pend Oreilles by early French trappers because they wore pendant ornaments in their ear lobes. Fish from the bridge and break Lake Pend Oreille’s world record 37 pound Kamloop record.
